Lo stile di Jacqueline è davvero unico!

Jacqueline's style is really unique!

- Perchè ti sei data alla creazione dei tuoi lavori? -
E' difficile rispondere. Ne sono letteralmente attratta! E' quasi una compulsione! Adoro lavorare con temi delle favole, perchè voglio creare arte che faccia sorridere la gente e che aggiunga un po' di magia alle loro giornate. Penso che l'arte sia molto potente e che possa essere usata per promuovere le idee, ma amo anche il potenziale che ha nell'ispirare e guarire, aggiungere bellezza al mondo.

- Why do you create what you do? -

Goodness, it's hard to know why I create what I do. I'm drawn to it really! It's almost a compulsion! I love working with fairytale themes though as i want to create art that makes people smile and add a little bit of magic to their day.  I think that art is very powerful and can be used to challenge ideas, but I like the potential of art to heal and inspire; to add beauty to the world

- Come è cambiata la tua pratica nel tempo? -
Il mio stile si è evoluto in moti modi! Prima usavo colori ad olio, pechè amo le textures e i pigmenti densi. Ma sono senza speranze quando si tratta di pulire i pennelli e trovo l'odore un po' troppo intenso; così ho continuato a sperimentare! Ogni medium aggiunge qualcosa di nuovo e ognumo ha i suoi punti di forza e le sue debolezze. Mi piacciono i lavori tessili, e recentemente ho scoperto Procreate, per iPad, qualcosa che ho cercato per anni!

- How has your practice changed over time? -

My practice has evolved in all sorts of ways! I used to use oil paints as I love texture and the dense pigment. I am pretty hopeless at cleaning brushes though and found the smell a bit intense, so have just kept experimenting! Each medium brings something new and they have their own strengths and weaknesses. I like textile work too and have recently discovered Procreate on the iPad which feels like something I have been searching for, for years!

- Come funziona il tuo processo creativo? -
Ho diversi approcci, a seconda di ciò che voglio realizzare. A volte è solo questione di buttare giù un po' di colore sulla pagina e giocare. Altre volte ho in mente un'idea, oppure qualcuno mi ha suggerito qualcosa o me l'ha commissionata. In quel caso inizio con una ricerca su Pinterest. E' un ottimo modo per cercare ispirazione, ma anche per vedere che cosa è già stato fatto. Se posso, mi piace essere originale!

- How does your creating process work? -

I suppose I have a few approaches depending on what I want to do. Sometimes it's just a matter of getting some colour down on the paper and having a play around. Sometimes I have a concept in mind, or somebody has suggested or commissioned something. In that instance I will start researching things on Pinterest. It's an amazing way to be inspired, but also a way of discovering what has already been done. I like to be original if I can!

- Quali sono i tuoi progetti attuali? -
Quest'anno partecipo al LifeBook. E' fantastico e lo raccomando a tutte! Si imparano molte tecniche e mi ha confermato che anche altre persone usano processi simili ai miei e che sono ok!

- What are your current projects? -

I am doing Lifebook this year which is fantastic and something that I would recommend! It's brilliant for learning techniques, but it has been really reaffirming for me that other people have similar processes to me and that that is okay!

Sono anche nel bel mezzo del #the100dayproject con le mie 100 fate! Non pensavo che che le fate sarebbero diventate ciò che sono ora! Pensavo che fosse una chance per sperimentare un po' e provare delle accounciature diverse! Invece si sono trasformate in piccole storie complete. Una volta completato il progetto, farò un libro con le più interessanti!
Inoltre, il mio brand Glitter and Earth mi tiene molto occupata. Adoro giocare col glitter!

I am also in the middle of #the100dayproject, creating #100fairies! I had no idea the fairies would turn into what they have! I just thought it would be s chance to experiment a little bit. Try some different fairy hairstyles! Instead they have turned into little stories and are complete in themselves. Once the project is finished I am going to make a book out of the most interesting ones!

Also, my brand Glitter and Earth is something that keeps me busy and I love playing with glitter! 

- Quali sono gli obiettivi della tua arte? - 
Penso che un libro sia una delle mie ambizioni! Sono una scrittrice e ho sempre immaginato di scrivere un romanzo, ma le 100 fate hanno aperto nuove possibilità. Mi piacerebbe potermi mantenere con la mia arte, ma sono comunque soddisfatta dalla pratica e amo portare felicità agli altri!

- What is the goal you pursue with your art? -

Well, I think a book has always been an ambition of mine! I am a writer and so I always envisioned writing a novel, but the 100fairies has opened up new possibilities. I'd love to have a sustainable income through my art, but I am also fulfilled by art as a practice and love sending happiness to other people!

- Come hai iniziato? -  
E' qualcosa che ho sempre fatto. Sono sempre stata molto creativa ma, essendo stata anche un'universitaria, sono stata incoraggiata a sviluppare di più abilità non artistiche! Ritrovarmi ora a lavorare come artista è stata quasi una sorpresa! Ho lavorato nelle PR, come editor e giornalista freelance. E' solo con la nascita di mia figlia che ho permesso a me stessa di concentrarmi sull'arte.

- How did you get started? -

I think it's something I've always done! I've always been very creative, but because I was also academic I was encouraged to make the most of non artistic skills! Finding myself working as an artist now has come almost as a surprise to me! I've worked in PR, as a content editor and freelance journalist. It's only since the birth of my daughter that I have allowed myself to really focus on my art.

-Quale pensi che sia la caratteristica del tuo lavoro, quella che ti connette al tuo lavoro? -
Il colore è molto importante per me. Sento la vibrazione dei colori, quimdi sento l'arte sia a livello fisico che emozionale. E' molto importante che il mio lavoro generi emozioni gradevoli nelle persone che lo vedono. Quando creo un pezzo, mi innamoro ogni volta. Ci sono molta gioia e meraviglia in questo processo. Fate, funghi, sirene sono solo metafore della magia che sento.

- What do you think is the feature of your work, the feature that connects your art to you? -

I think that colour is really important to me. I feel colour vibrationally and so I feel art on a physical and emotional level. It's really important to me that my work will generate good feelings in the people that see it. When I create a piece of work, I feel like I am falling in love each time. There is real joy and wonder in it.  Fairies, mermaids, mushrooms are just metaphors for the magic I feel.
